Our History

Founded in 1980 as a Family Business, Arco Group Plc began as Arco Petrochemical  Engineering Co. Ltd., representing Nuovo Pignone SPA in Nigeria. At the time, Nuovo  Pignone—a state-owned Italian company—was a leading manufacturer of crude oil  pumps, gas compressors, and turbines.

In 1999, after Nuovo Pignone was acquired by General Electric (GE), Arco maintained a  collaborative relationship with GE’s Oil & Gas Division, specializing and excelling in maintenance engineering within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. As the company continued to  grow, it transitioned to Arco Petrochemical Engineering Co. Plc on June 24, 2010,  reflecting an increase in shareholders.

To support its steadily expanding business portfolio, the company was restructured,  becoming Arco Group Plc on September 11, 2014. This shift aligned with Arco's strategic diversification beyond maintenance engineering, encompassing marine logistics, pipeline  and facility inspection, and energy solutions.

Looking forward, Arco plans to diversify  into: Oil & Gas asset acquisition and operation, Power, Agriculture, Logistics &  Transportation, Real Estate & Hospitality, Technology and Financial Services among  other interests, further enhancing the group’s potential for sustainable growth, driven by  vision and innovation.

Today, with over 45 years of operational expertise, Arco Group Plc has evolved from a  founder-led enterprise into a group of independently managed subsidiaries, lead by  dedicated professionals. Each subsidiary operates autonomously, contributing to Arco’s  consolidated financial statements. This governance model underscores Arco's  commitment to operational excellence and sustained growth.
